ST. ANTHONY, Newfoundland and Labrador — October 13, 2026 — A 33-year-old woman has been charged following a commercial building fire in St. Anthony that affected several structures near the town’s waterfront, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

Police said officers observed the fire on Moores Drive on October 11 and searched the building to confirm that nobody was inside. The St. Anthony Volunteer Fire Department responded and extinguished the blaze. Authorities reported that no injuries were recorded.

The RCMP later located and arrested a suspect nearby. The woman has been charged with arson, breaking and entering, and failure to comply with court-ordered conditions.

The provincial Fire Commissioner’s Office has joined the investigation as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the fire.

Police are asking anyone with information, including surveillance or dashcam footage from the area on Sunday night, to contact the St. Anthony RCMP. The investigation remains ongoing, and the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
