Toronto police have located a vehicle linked to an alleged parental abduction investigation in Scarborough, but three young children and their mother remain missing, authorities said.
The investigation began on October 23 after police received a report involving three children taken during a semi-supervised visit at a family member’s home near Midland Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East.
The children are identified as six-year-old Daniel, three-year-old Irina and four-month-old Anastasia. Police allege their 22-year-old mother, Somerda Miclescu, left the residence with them. She is wanted for parental abduction.
On October 26, Toronto Police Service confirmed that the white 2017 Ford Expedition believed to have been used in the incident had been located. The discovery has not ended the search for the children and their mother, and police have not disclosed where the vehicle was found.
Investigators have also identified the vehicle’s owner, Ionut Stroe, 25, as a person of interest. Police say he is wanted on four unrelated counts of failing to comply with a release order. No charges against him in connection with the alleged abduction have been announced.
Police are urging anyone with information about the children’s or the mother’s whereabouts to contact Toronto police at 416-808-4100.
The investigation remains active. Anyone with relevant information should contact authorities directly rather than sharing unverified claims online.
