Vancouver is celebrating international cultural connections as TAIWANfest 2026 brings Taiwan, Canada and Scotland together through a three-day program of music, art, heritage and storytelling.

Running through September 7, the festival is centred on the theme “Islands in the Wind” and explores connections between cultures through performances, films, workshops, exhibitions, talks and culinary programming.

The festival's 2026 programming includes an Artist Market, Hakka and Formosa cultural programs, gender discussions, craft workshops and historical conversations involving Taiwan, Scotland and Canada.

Organizers say TAIWANfest is designed to explore how history, migration and cultural exchange shape contemporary communities.

The event is taking place at multiple downtown Vancouver locations, including the area north of the Vancouver Art Gallery, Granville Street, Vancouver Playhouse and Vancouver Public Library.

The festival highlights Vancouver's multicultural character while giving Taiwanese and Taiwanese-Canadian artists and communities a platform to share heritage, creativity and contemporary cultural perspectives.
