Correctional Service Canada is seeking the public’s assistance in locating an inmate who failed to return to a minimum-security unit at Saskatchewan Penitentiary.

Officials said Scott Sargefield, 53, failed to return on September 7, 2026, following an authorized temporary absence from the Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, facility. Correctional Service Canada immediately notified the Prince Albert Detachment of the RCMP, and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.

Sargefield is serving a sentence of two years, one month and 19 days for theft under $5,000 and uttering threats of death or harm, according to federal corrections officials.

The Correctional Service Canada said it is working with police to locate and arrest the inmate, while an investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact the Prince Albert RCMP detachment.
