Toronto’s contemporary art scene is entering a major new season with the opening of the fourth Toronto Biennial of Art, bringing together more than 30 artists and collectives for exhibitions across the city and surrounding region.
The 2026 edition, titled “Things Fall Apart,” is curated by Allison Glenn and explores ideas around rupture, change and shifting relationships through contemporary art. The biennial opened on September 26 and continues through December 20, 2026.
The exhibition extends beyond traditional gallery spaces, with artworks presented at multiple locations in and around Toronto. A new partnership program also expands the biennial's reach to other Canadian cities.
The program features international and Canadian artists working across visual art, installation and contemporary artistic practices, giving audiences opportunities to encounter new perspectives in different locations throughout the region.
With its citywide approach and broad group of participating artists, the Toronto Biennial of Art 2026 is becoming a major feature of Canada's contemporary arts calendar this fall.
