Delta police are continuing to investigate a fatal pedestrian collision at Tsawwassen Mills in British Columbia that left two Tsawwassen First Nation Elders dead and two other people critically injured.

Police said a vehicle struck four pedestrians shortly after 10:25 a.m. on September 30 in the shopping centre parking lot. Two victims died at the scene, while two others were transported to hospital.

The driver received medical treatment, spoke with investigators and was later released from hospital. No charges have been sworn, and police said there is currently no information indicating that the collision was intentional. Investigators are examining whether a medical emergency experienced by the driver may have contributed to the crash.

The collision occurred near an area where a House Post unveiling had been scheduled following a Truth and Reconciliation Walk. Police said there is no indication that the crash was connected to the walk or the planned ceremony.

Delta Police are continuing to seek witness statements, surveillance footage and dash-camera recordings that could assist the investigation.
