Toronto’s art scene is welcoming a major photography exhibition as Dawoud Bey’s Street Portraits opens at Stephen Bulger Gallery on September 12.

The exhibition, running through October 17, 2026, marks the gallery’s second solo exhibition of work by the acclaimed American photographer.

Bey is widely recognized for his portrait photography and long-standing exploration of Black life, community and everyday experience. His Street Portraits series is known for its intimate approach to photographing people and their surroundings.

The Toronto exhibition gives Canadian audiences an opportunity to experience Bey’s distinctive photographic practice while adding an internationally recognized name to the city's busy fall arts calendar.

The exhibition will remain on view at Stephen Bulger Gallery on Dundas Street West, with an official opening reception scheduled for September 23.

The arrival of Street Portraits highlights Toronto’s continued role as an important destination for contemporary photography and international visual arts.
