Thousands of Canadians are being urged to stop using a popular walking pad after Health Canada issued a nationwide safety recall.

The recall affects approximately 7,000 PowerG Walking Pads, model 499-4052, sold through Canadian Tire between January 2025 and July 2026.

Health Canada says the product does not meet the applicable safety requirements for its product category, creating a potential electrical hazard.

Consumers who own the recalled walking pad should immediately stop using it and return it to a Canadian Tire store for a refund or in-store credit.

As of August 10, Health Canada said there had been no reported incidents or injuries in Canada linked to the recalled product.

The recall adds to growing attention around consumer-product safety as Canadians increasingly purchase compact fitness equipment for home use. Authorities are reminding consumers to check recall notices and avoid continuing to use products that have been officially recalled.
