Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in Canada for high-level talks with Prime Minister Mark Carney, with strengthening Ukraine’s air defences and preparing for the coming winter expected to be key priorities.

Zelenskyy said air defence and winter resilience would be central to his visit as Ukraine continues facing Russian attacks against critical infrastructure and energy facilities.

The Ukrainian president is expected to hold meetings with Canadian officials and discuss additional support for Ukraine as it prepares for another difficult winter. Discussions are also expected to focus on strengthening Ukraine’s ability to protect its people and critical infrastructure.

Canada and European countries have continued supporting Ukraine through military assistance and efforts to strengthen its defence capabilities.

The visit puts Canada’s role in Ukraine’s defence and international diplomacy back in the spotlight as Kyiv seeks additional support ahead of the winter months.
