Ottawa police have reported 23 arrests following a targeted public-safety operation in the Chinatown and Centretown areas, as officers focused on community concerns and enforcement.

The Ottawa Police Service said Project Fall Out was conducted from September 21 to 27 by community outreach and neighbourhood policing teams. Officers carried out high-visibility patrols and spoke with residents, business owners and other community members, particularly around Bank Street and Somerset Street.

Police said those arrested were facing offences ranging from violations under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act to assaulting police officers. One provincial trespass notice was also issued, and officers recovered a stolen bicycle.

The police service said the operation was intended to combine targeted enforcement with community-based policing and address ongoing public-safety concerns in the two Ottawa neighbourhoods.

Authorities said the initiative forms part of broader efforts to respond to neighbourhood safety and quality-of-life concerns.
