Canada’s expanding pipeline of major infrastructure, energy and industrial projects could create a C$443 billion revenue opportunity for Canadian small and medium-sized businesses, according to a new study from the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC).
The study highlights the potential impact of large projects on smaller companies that supply equipment, construction services, professional expertise, manufacturing and other goods and services.
Construction, mining, manufacturing, professional services and wholesale trade are among the sectors expected to see some of the strongest opportunities as major projects move forward.
The findings come as Canada seeks to accelerate investment and strengthen domestic supply chains amid continued trade uncertainty. A larger project pipeline could allow smaller Canadian businesses to secure new contracts, expand production and enter markets connected to major infrastructure developments.
The report points to the importance of Canadian companies being prepared to participate in large-scale projects, particularly as investment in infrastructure, energy and industrial capacity increases.
For Canada’s SME sector, the projected C$443 billion opportunity could become an important source of new contracts, business expansion and economic growth in the years ahead.
