Canada’s telecommunications company BCE Inc. has agreed to sell a minority stake in its newly formed wireless tower infrastructure business to Canadian institutional investor La Caisse in a transaction valued at C$2.45 billion.
According to Reuters, the deal values the new company, named TowerCo, at approximately C$4.91 billion. Bell Canada will retain a 50.1% controlling interest, while La Caisse will own the remaining 49.9%.
TowerCo is expected to own and operate more than 5,000 wireless tower sites across Canada and will be headquartered in Montreal. Bell will lease capacity on the towers, allowing it to continue using the infrastructure while retaining ownership of its spectrum, active network equipment and owned land.
The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. BCE expects the deal to help reduce debt and support its growth plans, including investment in artificial intelligence.
The agreement highlights the growing financial value of telecommunications infrastructure as Canadian operators seek funding for network development and new digital services. The transaction remains subject to closing conditions, and its completion is not yet confirmed.
