The Canadian government has unveiled a significant initiative to strengthen the country's aerospace industry by supporting Pratt & Whitney Canada's C$275 million manufacturing modernization project in Longueuil, Quebec. Through the Strategic Response Fund, Ottawa will contribute up to C$34 million to help modernize the company's aircraft engine manufacturing centre of excellence.

Industry Minister Mélanie Joly said the investment is designed to enhance Canada's industrial capabilities, attract future aerospace investment, and ensure the country remains competitive in advanced manufacturing. Government officials noted the project is expected to maintain approximately 650 highly skilled jobs while improving production efficiency and supporting innovation in aircraft engine technology.
