A Regina technology company is receiving nearly $1 million in federal funding to expand an artificial intelligence platform designed to help communities manage critical infrastructure.

Prairies Economic Development Canada announced $980,000 for ASI Engineering, an engineering consultancy developing technology for managing physical assets such as roads, buildings and water systems.

The funding will help the company integrate AI into its ASI Software platform, which brings information about infrastructure assets together through a cloud-based registry and dashboard.

The technology can help organizations monitor asset conditions, identify maintenance requirements and assess potential infrastructure funding gaps.

ASI Engineering also plans to expand into the United States and European markets over the next two years.

The company is developing additional climate-adaptation capabilities that could help communities assess risks associated with wildfires, flooding and other climate-related threats.

The investment highlights Saskatchewan's growing technology sector and Canada's broader push to use AI for smarter infrastructure planning and public-asset management.
